The news was dominated by the
outrage committed by legal gun owner Derrick Bird in Cumbria which resulted
in the deaths of twelve victims and injuries to eleven others. The
perpetrator then shot himself. GCN will be providing a more detailed
account of the Cumbria shootings elsewhere.
This review
is based on the other gun-related incidents. The number of gunshot injuries
was comparatively high, not least because of incidents which occurred in the
Birmingham area. The number of incidents involving airguns and BB guns that
resulted in injuries to human and animal victims was also higher than in
recent months.
-
