Firearms licensing costs in the UK

Did you know your taxes are subsidising shooters to the tune of £20m a year?

At present, shooters pay £79.50 for a shotgun licence and £88 for a firearms licence, both of which last for 5 years.  Renewing a licence costs even less, £49 and £62 respectively.

For the price of a few cups of coffee a year a man can own as many shotguns as he likes.

The police say the real cost of processing an application for a gun licence is £200.

With over 800,000 gun licences in existence, the Home Office estimates that the total cost to the taxpayer is approximately £20m per year.
