Two takeaway restaurants were allegedly shot at in one a half hour period in drive-by shootings in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. The shots reportedly damaged windows at both the businesses but no one was injured.

Two masked men armed with what appeared to be a handgun threatened staff at a bookmakers in Wolverhampton, West Midlands. The armed robber demanded money while the other stood guard before they escaped with cash, dropping bundles as they fled to a getaway car. Staff were left shaken but uninjured.

The windows of a primary school in Blackburn, Lancashire have been shattered by airgun fire for the seventh time in a year. In the latest incident, the shots were believed to have been fired from the passenger window of a car as it drove past the premises and airgun pellets were recovered from the site of the damage. Police have appealed for information.

Police found two imitation firearms, cash, cannabis and drug paraphernalia in searches of two properties in Birmingham, West Midlands. One of the properties was believed to have been being used an illegal drinking and gambling venue. Two males were arrested but the 17-year-old was released without charge and the 52-year-old was given a caution for supplying cannabis.

Two swans have been found shot dead in woods near Wrotham, Kent. They were found with gunshot wounds to their necks by a passer by and police reported that they appeared to "have been deliberately shot through the neck and dumped."

Brett Minnice has been jailed for two years after pleading guilty to damaging property, breaching a restraining order and possessing an imitation firearm during an incident at his home in Oldham, Greater Manchester. Police were called to the property after an argument between Minnice and his former partner when he went to her house in breach of a court order banning him from contact, accused her of seeing other men and threw a brick through her window before heading home. When they arrived at his house, Minnice resisted arrest and pointed a realistic replica Beretta pistol at one of the officers and threatened to kill them. The officers backed away and he was persuaded to put down the gun by his brother and arrested. At the time of the incident he had been under the influence of drink and drugs and suffering after a recent diagnosis of Huntington's disease.

David James Willoughby has been made the subject of a secure hospital order after he made threats to kill a number of people with a shotgun upon his release from prison in Durham. Nine months from the end of his sentence for arson and a vigilante attack on a paedophile who was thrown from a bridge, Willoughby gave a letter addressed to the police to a prison officer in which he claimed he would don a Nazi uniform and shoot dead his parents, his mother's partner, and police officers, his co-accused and witnesses who had been involved in his case. He cited revenge and not wanting to be released from prison as motivations for the attack, but later told police the letter was a cry for  help and he had not intended the threats.

A masked man has threatened the manager with an imitation pistol during an attempted robbery of a store in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. The victim refused to submit to his demands, and the robber fled without taking anything. Police have appealed for information.

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Spain for extradition back to the UK after being on the run in the country since he jumped out of the dock and assaulted four security guards at his 2009 trial in Burnley, Lancashire. He was convicted in his absence for an armed robbery in which he and another man threatened postal workers with a gun, machete and a baseball bat in 2005. He had previously evaded capture by ramming two police cars and driving the wrong direction down the motorway. Police also recovered two handguns, 60 rounds of ammunition and a machete at the luxury villa where he was arrested.
