Hockey players were shot at with airgun and BB gun pellets while playing a match at a sports park in Aberdeen. Three players were hit with pellets and allegedly had abuse shouted at them by children from a nearby travellers' camp. The match had to be abandoned.

Police recovered over £50,000 worth of drugs, a sword and a stun gun during raids on properties throughout Lanarkshire. The raids were part of an operation to tackle violent crime in the area which saw over 120 arrests in one day.

Shaun Burke and Donovan Geohaghon have been jailed for 12 and six months respectively for assaulting a man and threatening him with a gun in front of witnesses on a street in Birmingham, West Midlands. They punched and kicked the victim, dragged him along the street, and threatened to shoot him in front of a 13-year-old boy, in what Burke claimed was an attempt to intimidate the man after a dispute. When police arrived at the scene they recovered a handgun from a nearby taxi and found the assailants in a property on the street.

Anthony Smith has been jailed for 15 years for a series of armed robberies including an hold up of a village shop in Haxey, Lincolnshire. Smith and other masked accomplices used an imitation gun to threaten two female members of staff at the store. They were forced to lie face down with their hands behind them while the men held the weapon to their backs and smashed a till before escaping with cash. The victims of all the attacks were left extremely shaken but uninjured.

Police have recovered a pump-action shotgun, parts from three rifles, a deactivated pistol, flare devices and ammunition components from a house in Shrivenham, Oxfordshire. The guns were discovered during an investigation into the theft of items from the MoD Defence Academy by a former employee. A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the find.

A 15-year-old boy was shot in the leg with a pellet gun which was fired at a community centre with children inside in Carlton in Lindrick, Nottinghamshire. He was taken to hospital but doctors were unable to remove the pellet because it had embedded close to an artery. A sign outside the building was also damaged. A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.

A female cashier was threatened by a man with a gun during an armed robbery at a petrol station in Hatton, Derbyshire. The masked assailant pointed the gun at the victim and threatened to shoot her, before escaping in a getaway car with cash from the till. Police later arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of robbery.

Ronnie Hudson, 63, has pleaded guilty to possessing a shotgun, 30 cartridges and three air rifles, while banned from having firearms for life due to a previous jail sentence, in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. He was captured on CCTV leaving a fully functional shotgun next to a railway track, and police recovered the cartridges and air rifles from his home in the town. Hudson claimed to have discovered the gun after seeing a group of men leaving something in the woods and to have put the gun on the railway line without its ammunition where he knew it would be discovered.

Over twenty suspected cannabis plants, a shotgun, ammunition, and quad bikes believed to be stolen have been seized from outbuildings on land in Upton Cheney, Gloucestershire. Two men have been arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and handling stolen goods.
