Bexhill-on-Sea Observer, 27 May 2008 A man was arrested and cautioned for possession of an imitation firearm after police went to a park in Abbey Water, Romsey in Hampshire, following a report from a member of the public.
Birmingham Mail, 27 May 2008 A man was shot in the eye by a gunman who fired through the window of a house in Woodgate Valley, Birmingham. The victim was found on the floor of the property and was in a "stable condition" in hospital. A man and a teenage woman have been arrested. The police said it was not clear whether the shot came from a ball-bearing gun, air pistol or a genuine firearm. A man has been charged with wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm (BBC, 28 May 2008).
Daily Mirror, 27 May 2008 Ball-bearing guns were given to children as prizes at a fair at Market Weighton, East Yorkshire. Children as young as five were spotted loading and playing with the guns on their own. The town council has said that it did not know about the guns and would not let it happen again.

Manchester Evening News, 27 May 2008 A woman was held at gunpoint during an armed robbery at a bank in Oldham. The cashier had a small black handgun pointed at her head. The robber escaped with £2000 in a plastic carrier bag.

New Post Leader, 27 May 2008 An armed response team were called to a street in Ashington, Northumberland, where a man had been seen with a firearm. The weapon was a blank-firing revolver. A man was arrested and released on bail.
