A man was found dead due to gunshot wound on a farm in Norfolk. The death was an apparent suicide and the farmer's life was taken by a shotgun days after footage emerged of him treating his pigs cruelly. An inquest confirmed he died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head (Diss Express, 24 February 2012).

Three shootings incidents apparently took place in one day in Wolverhampton. A man was shot in the leg in one incident, while bullets were also fired at a house two miles away around the same time. Later the same day, two people were arrested in connection with another shooting at a house. Police could not confirm whether the incidents -- which also followed the alleged discharge of a gun at a pub in the city the week prior -- are linked.

Police arrested five young men, all aged between 17 and 20, after the group allegedly was seen with a gun in Stockton, Warwickshire. Officers charged a 19-year-old with possession of a loaded weapon in public, while also charging a 20-year-old with possession of controlled drugs.

A man was allegedly spotted carrying a gun in Wigan. Police responded to an emergency call after the suspect was seen on the streets apparently carrying a shotgun. However, officers were unable to locate the man or the firearm.

A shotgun and ammunition were stolen from a home in Leicester. Police said burglars forced open a safe and stole the legally held shotgun, 225 cartridges and an air rifle.


East London Lines

Police recovered a firearm in Hackney, east London. The seizure was reportedly part of a new community safety initiative that also recovered three knives and drugs on its first day.

Two armed men abducted a post master from his home in Nottingham. The men reportedly threatened the victim with an imitation gun and drove him to the post office before ordering him to open the safe. However police officers intervened and the assailants fled.

A man was arrested after allegedly carrying out a string of armed robberies in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The suspect has been charged with five counts of robbery, one of attempted robbery, one of possessing an imitation gun, four of possessing knives and two counts of theft.

Police recovered a handgun in Colindale, northwest London. Officers searched a house and found the firearm as well as cash and drugs. They arrested a 21-year-old and 20-year-old and charged both men with possessing a firearm and ammunition without a certificate. The 20-year-old was also charged with possessing a firearm when prohibited for five years and possession of drugs.

A man was shot at a pub in Kirby, Merseyside. He was reportedly hit in the legs by a shotgun blast but escaped and was taken to hospital and was reported to be in a stable condition.
