A man threatened staff with a gun and attempted to rob a shop in Bath, Somerset. He fled empty handed. A man was arrested and an imitation weapon was recovered nearby. A man has been accused of possessing an imitation firearm and attempted robbery (Bath Chronicle, 24 December 2010).

Three men and a youth have been charged with robbery after an incident in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, in which a 16-year-old boy allegedly had his phone and wallet taken. One man has been accused of having a blank-firing revolver when he committed the robbery and has pleaded not guilty to robbery and being in possession of an imitation firearm at the time of committing an arrestable offence (Wiltshire Times, 22 February 2011).

Tricia O'Hara from Toxteth, Liverpool, minded a Glock pistol which was used in the gangland murder of a convicted robber in Crosby in June 2010 (see Incidents). She jailed for five years for providing a safe house for the weapon. Police found the weapon and 12 rounds of ammunition during a raid in July. Her son has since pleaded guilty to having the weapon.

Mark Howarth from Clitheroe, Lancashire, pointed an imitation firearm at someone in his own home during a dispute. He pleaded guilty to an offence of possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and have been jailed for eight months.

A jeweller tried to detain a man who entered his shop brandishing a gun and a knife in Cleveleys, Lancashire. The victim suffered a minor injury. It is not known if the gun was a real or imitation weapon.

Police recovered a pistol and arrested two men who were stopped as they drove in the centre of Birmingham. The men were being held on suspicion of possessing a firearm and possessing an offensive weapon.

Bill Treeby and his sons Billy and George have been found guilty of murdering his brother and the attempted murder of another brother in an incident in Maidstone, Kent, in December 2009 (see Incidents) which stemmed from a family feud. Charity Treeby, Bill Treeby's wife, was found guilty of grievous bodily harm. The murdered man died after being hit by a car and the other brother was beaten up and shot in the leg with a 12-bore shotgun.

Two teenagers have been charged with a string of drug and firearms offences after they were allegedly caught with a sawn-off shotgun, a handgun and cocaine in Wallington, south London. They have each been jailed for six years for firearms and drugs offences.
