During a brawl among a group of women in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, a child suffered minor injuries after being hit by a stun gun. Three women were subsequently arrested for possession of offensive weapons. Police have appealed for information.
A post-mortem examination on a female goshawk, found dead in the Loch Farr area of Inverness-shire, has revealed that the bird had been shot. Goshawks are birds of prey, protected by the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. A wildlife crime officer appealed for information, describing the shooting as a “cruel and callous act”.
Yousef Mohamed has been jailed for twelve-and-a-half years after pleading guilty to conspiracy to supply Class A and Class B drugs, possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition without a certificate. As part of Operation Venetic — an investigation into the criminal use of the EncroChat messaging system — detectives discovered that Mohamed was a “major league” drug dealer who had obtained a Glock pistol. In January this year, police officers raided Mohamed’s flat in Liverpool, Merseyside and recovered drugs with a street value of around £20,000 as well as over £11,000 cash and almost £9,000 worth of clothing. The pistol and nine rounds of ammunition were recovered from undergrowth near Mohamed’s home a few months later.

A man suffered a wound to his arm after shots were fired at a home in Middlesbrough, North Yorkshire on two consecutive nights. CCTV images suggest that a single gunman fired shots at windows on the first night, while, on the second night, two men were present when shots were fired at close range at the front door, causing the man’s injury. Police have appealed for information.

After he activated a Taser disguised as a torch in front of people on a street in Radcliffe, Greater Manchester, Anthony Murray, aged 20, pleaded guilty to possession of a Taser and was handed a suspended eight-month prison term with a three-month curfew and ten days of rehabilitation activities. Following reports of shots heard during a disorder in Wolverhampton, West Midlands, a man self-presented at a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his arm. His injuries are not thought to be serious. Police have appealed for information.
