A man has been charged with possession of a firearm whilst committing a schedule 1 offence (criminal damage), possession of a shotgun without a certificate and threats to commit criminal damage following an incident in Cheadle, Staffordshire in February this year. Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

A post-mortem has revealed that a woman, found dead at her home in Bexhill, East Sussex, died from injury consistent with gunshot wounds. A man, who had suffered a serious injury, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder.

Police are investigating reports of an unknown assailant firing a suspected air weapon at people outside a shop in Gosport, Hampshire. One witness described seeing three teenage boys running away after they were targeted. There have also been reports of lasers being “aggressively beamed” at people in the area. Police have appealed for information.

Three men have been jailed after police recovered a pistol and ammunition from a vehicle in Wakefield, West Yorkshire and a handgun and ammunition from a property in nearby Morley in May last year. Drugs and a knife were also recovered during the operation. Matthew Daw, aged 36, was jailed for eleven years after admitting conspiracy to possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and conspiracy to possess ammunition with intent to cause fear of violence. Luke Skinner, 24, and Jake Rigby, 21, were jailed for nine years and eight years, four months respectively after being found guilty of the same charges, as well as possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.

After being alerted to a suspicious vehicle in Eccles, Greater Manchester, thought to have been abandoned by four men who fled on foot, police officers discovered the car had previously been stolen. A suspected BB gun was found inside the vehicle. No arrests have yet been made.

Following reports of gunfire in Lea Hall, West Midlands, which left what appeared to be a bullet hole in a porch door, police officers cordoned off several properties while the scene was searched. A police spokesperson later said that officers were investigating another report of gunfire in nearby Stechford, which occurred around the same time. It is not clear whether the incidents are linked. No injuries have been reported.
