Sutton & Croydon Guardian


As part of a crackdown on violent crime, police officers raided a house in Croydon, South London and recovered five firearms. The weapons have been sent for specialist analysis. A man was arrested at the scene and later released under investigation.

The Star


Stephen Pentelow, aged 37, has been handed a two-year community order with a Rehabilitation Actvity Requirement, a four-month curfew and a ten-year restraining order after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault and possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence. In August 2019, Pentelow visited his ex-partner’s home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, where he shouted threats and used force before firing a BB gun at her and at a window. The woman sustained an injury to her side.



Robert Armstrong, of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, handed a suspended eight-month sentence after being found carrying a knuckleduster Taster-type device. Click on media link to read full report.

Greenock Telegraph


Ryan Bonner, aged 19, has been jailed for 20 months after admitting attempting to have in his possession a prohibited weapon. After US law enforcement authorities intercepted a parcel addressed to Bonner’s accomplice, Jonathan Paxton, that contained a Glock-19 pistol, a replacement “placebo package” containing a recording device was sent in its place. Bonner collected the parcel from Paxton’s address and was recorded saying, “I am telling you - once I get it out the box, I'll put it in a bag. Once I know there is no tracking devices in the box, tomorrow, we will move it somewhere.” When police called at Bonner’s home in Inverkip, Renfrewshire, he claimed to have believed the parcel contained a car part that he was collecting for someone else; however, officers recovered the fully-working Glock semi-automatic firearm and arrested Bonner.

The Wave


After shots were fired into an address in Trecynon, Rhondda, two men were charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, possession of a weapon with intent to endanger life and possession of a weapon in a public place. There were no reports of any injuries. Police have issued the name of a third male suspect they wish to speak to.



It has been reported that over one hundred ducks have died after being shot on or near the River Hull at Driffield, East Yorkshire. A notice on the riverbank states: “On three occasions in January, a group of men on the Bradshaw's Mill side of the river carried out a mass slaughter of over a hundred ducks…They were shooting illegally on a Sunday afternoon. They left the ducks injured or dying in the reeds… The shooting season for ducks closed on the 31 January, so if you hear shots being fired in this area on Sunday, February 7 or any date after that please contact the police.” The attacks have been reported to local police.
