A licensed shotgun, an air rifle, and 25 rounds of ammunition as well as £200 and a pair of gold earrings have been stolen from a locked firearms cabinet in the burglary of a house in Burnley, Lancashire.

Pawel Mlodzianowski has been jailed for six years for attempting to rob a cashier at gunpoint at a garage, and growing cannabis, in Exeter, Devon. He armed himself with a BB gun, which he had painted black to make it appear realistic, cocked it, and threatened to shoot the employee, who refused to hand over cash from the till. Mlodzianowski escaped with some sandwiches and cigarettes from the counter, abandoning some clothing and the imitation gun in a play area where they were found by police. Officers recovered 12 cannabis plants from his home after Mlodzianowski handed himself in.

Andrew Frape, 48, has been jailed for 18 months and his gun has been destroyed after he accidentally shot his 64-year-old uncle in the neck with an airgun in Rochester, Kent. Frape and a friend had been shooting targets in his mother's garden while inebriated before the victim arrived to drive the pair back to his house. Frape brandished the gun in the back of the car on the way despite warnings not too, and it went off, hitting his uncle in the back of the neck. The victim went to hospital but the pellet could not be removed because it was so close to his spine that surgery carried a risk of paralysis.

A man has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, grievous bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm, threats to kill and aggravated burglary of a home after an incident at an address in Ipswich, Suffolk during which a man and a woman were reportedly injured.

Two males, aged 17 and 18, have been arrested after a male cyclist was shot in the face with a BB gun and had his bike stolen in an alleyway in Newport, Gwent. He required stitches in hospital for his facial injuries.

A two-year-old cat was shot in the stomach with a pellet gun in Finchampstead, Berkshire. He was taken to the vets for treatment but may not recover from his injury.

Ian Catley has been jailed for seven years and has had his gun destroyed for fatally shooting his friend with a shotgun at close range in a field in Cambridgeshire after the victim asked him to help him test a protective vest that he had recently bought from an army surplus store in the belief that it was bullet-proof. The plastic in the vest in fact pushed the pellets further into the victim's chest, severing an artery. The licensed gun owner tried to help the victim but he could not be resuscitated.

Mudasor Malik has been jailed for five years for possessing an Uzi sub-machine gun, a Browning pistol, two silencers, and seventy live bullets as well as £600 of cannabis, cocaine, and MDMA at his home in Manchester. Police recovered the weapons while searching the address in connection with an unrelated issue, and Malik was arrested when he returned home. Officers also found information about different types of guns and how to grow cannabis on his mobile phone. The bouncer claimed to have been storing the weapons for gang members out of fear after they threatened him for refusing to take part in a robbery, even firing a shot outside his property.
