Frederic Depre has been fined £1,000 after pleading guilty to being drunk in charge of a gun and assaulting a woman at the airport in Aberdeen. He and nine other men who had been on a shooting trip to Belgium had been drinking heavily on their private flight to Scotland, and when queuing at a cash point in the airport Depre touched a woman in front of him on the bottom and tried to put his arms around her. Police were called and they discovered Depre was carrying a shotgun while in his intoxicated state in a public place.

John Lidiatt has been given a 12-month suspended sentence with 200 hours unpaid work after ordering a stun gun disguised as a mobile phone online to his home in Bristol. The collector of replica crossbows, swords, and masks purchased the prohibited taser gun while looking for other replica items, but the package was intercepted at customs and handed to police. An undercover officer dressed as a postman delivered the package to Lidiatt's home and he was arrested. Lidiatt claimed he did not think the item was a real taser due to its low price.

A man fired a suspected shotgun at the window of the games room of a pub in Wythenshawe, Greater Manchester. No one was injured and the attack was believed to have been intended to intimidate rather than to harm, as the room was obviously empty when the shot was fired. The shooter and others were witnessed fleeing the scene on foot.

A replica Browning .50 calibre machine gun was taken from a vintage military vehicle, and a metal gun feed belt containing used cartridges and two army helmets were also stolen, from a barn at a farm near Darmsden, Suffolk.

Mickyle Bromfield has been jailed for 10 years for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life during a fatal street fight in Downham, south London. He got out of his car and pulled out the gun when his friend was stabbed in the leg by three other men who attempted to rob him after arranging to meet to buy drugs. Bromfield threatened the trio and fired the gun, causing them to flee the scene in two vehicles, but they were later arrested and have been jailed for a total of 35 years for manslaughter and conspiracy to rob. Bromfield and his injured friend also drove off, but the victim crashed due to his injuries and could not be resuscitated by emergency workers who attended the scene.

Steven Hale, 51, has been jailed for two years after pleading guilty to possessing a prohibited firearm, 266 rounds of .22 ammunition, and an expanding bullet made for a different gun at his home in Exeter, Devon. Hale came into possession of the replica long-barrelled revolver which had been adapted to fire .22 ammunition, and the bullets, after finding them in a skip in the city, and he took them home instead of contacting the police. Officers found the gun and ammunition when searching the property as part of a different investigation. Hale avoided the automatic minimum sentence of five years for possessing a prohibited firearm because he did not have the gun for criminal purposes and he was a carer for his wife.

A man has been arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and possession of an air rifle within five years of his release from a Young Offenders' Institution, after he shot his neighbour with the gun from a block of flats in Purton, Wiltshire. He shot the victim with the sighted gas-propelled gun while taking pot shots from the window, and his neighbour was left with pellets embedded in his body that had to be removed by medical staff.

Awale Ahmed, 19, has been given an 18-month suspended sentence with 120 hours of unpaid work for possession of a 26,000-volt stun gun made to look like a torch and of £862 of cannabis with intent to supply in Liverpool, Merseyside. Police stopped the teenager for cycling with no lights through the city, and found him to be carrying the fully-functioning weapon as well as 47 bags of cannabis, £108 in cash, and three mobile phones. Ahmed claimed he believed the firearm to be a torch which he had been given to use as a flashing light for a dance party.

A UKIP councillor on Buckinghamshire County Councillor, and chairman of Crimestoppers Thames Valley has had his shotgun licence revoked and two shotguns seized by police after an allegation that he was unsuitable to own the weapons. He claims the allegation is false, and has lodged an appeal against the revocation, stating that he needs the weapons for pest control on his farm in Granborough, Buckinghamshire.

A 36-year-old husband and father was found dead in a car on New Year's Day in Burwell, Cambridgeshire after having been shot in the back. A 57-year-old man from the village has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. Police said the death was believed to be "an isolated incident".
