Michael Kieran Mackie, 18, has been ordered to pay £200 compensation after pleading guilty to shooting his female friend in the face with a BB gun in Arbroath, Angus. The girl sustained an injury when the pellet struck her face.

George Nicol and David Fowler have pleaded guilty to theft and possession of firearms after they attempted to break into an ATM machine at a bank in Blantyre, South Lanarkshire. The pair stole a sewage tanker and drove it into the cash point but were unable to break into it and tried to smash it open with sledgehammers before escaping in a car with fake number plates. They were pursued by police and arrested after crashing the vehicle, which was found to contain a sawn-off shotgun, five shotgun cartridges, tools, knives, and a set of licence plates.

Two men, aged 19 and 44, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of a firearm in connection with an armed robbery of a store in Banbury, Oxfordshire. Two men threatened employees at the shop and escaped with cash.

A masked man has fired a shotgun into the front door of a house occupied by a mother and toddler in Bradford, West Yorkshire. The shooter escaped in a getaway vehicle leaving the victims shaken but uninjured. The attack was reported to have been targeted, and to have come after multiple previous incidents in which the victim had her car windscreen damaged.

Two reportedly unconnected armed robberies have taken place on one day in Eastbourne, East Sussex. Two men threatened staff during an attempted robbery outside a supermarket. The pair intimated they had a gun and demanded money from two employees in a cash in transit van, but fled empty handed. A post office worker was later threatened with a gun by a man disguised in a postman's uniform. He pointed the gun at the victim, took an undisclosed amount of cash from the safe and set fire to the premises before fleeing. She was left extremely shaken but unhurt.

Firearms officers have arrested a 23-year-old man suspected of possessing a firearm in Maldon, Essex.

A flare, a shotgun, and ammunition have been found on unused land near a railway line in Liverpool, Merseyside. The discovery of the flare by patrol officers prompted a search in which the gun and ammunition were found.

A man disguised as a postman, and carrying a gun, tied up a postal worker and set fire to the building during a robbery of a post office in Eastbourne, East Sussex. The assailant threatened the victim with the firearm and took money from the till, before tying her up and setting the premises alight. He fled and the 49-year-old employee was able to escape. The building was damaged by smoke and the victim was treated in hospital for shock, but was otherwise unharmed by the attack.



This is Hampshire

A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause unlawful violence after a suspected arson attack on an unoccupied flat in a block in Basingstoke, Hampshire. Residents had to be evacuated while fire-fighters put out the fire, which caused significant damage to the flat but did not spread to other properties in the building. The incident followed an armed police raid at the building the week before.

A cat was shot in the leg with an air rifle in Armadale, West Lothian. A pellet lodged in the wound and had to be removed at a veterinary surgery.
