Two men armed with a suspected shotgun have held up a bank in Lutterworth, Leicestershire. The pair threatened a cashier in the busy branch and are alleged to have fired a single shot. Firearms officers were sent to the scene and the robbers fled empty-handed in a car. Three men were later arrested in connection with the robbery. No one was injured.

Armed officers were deployed after reports of a man threatening workers at a residential centre in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. Police found him in possession of an imitation toy cap gun and he was arrested. No one was injured.

Kevin Robinson, 53, has been given a 12-month community order and has his air rifle confiscated after he took it out in an attempt to scare off a group of young people from outside his home in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

Daniel Walker has been jailed for seven years for holding an imitation gun to the head of an employee during a an armed robbery of a shop in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. He grabbed the worker by the neck and demanded cash and cigarettes at gunpoint before fleeing with cash, cigarettes and alcohol. He was arrested soon after at his nearby home but his accomplice, who threatened two other workers with a hammer and smashed machines in the convenience store. during the robbery, has never been identified.

Aaron White, 20, has been jailed for 12 months for shooting three people with a paintball gun while driving around Swindon, Wiltshire with a group of his friends. They hit a man with learning difficulties in the eye, arms and body as he was cycling, and left him lying in the street. He was left with ongoing vision problems, and two other people were also hit with pellets.

A 54-year-old man has been shot and killed at his home in Kingsteignton, Devon. He was found with a shotgun wound to the head in what appeared to have been a suicide. An inquest has been opened and adjourned.

A taxi driver was threatened by a man with a gun on a street in Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The victim was confronted by the assailant brandishing the weapon and demanding cash when he arrived to pick him up. The robber escaped on foot with a small amount of cash. The driver was shaken but uninjured by the attack.

A man armed with a gun has threatened a worker at an off licence in Waterloo, Merseyside. The masked robber waited for the other customers to leave before pointing the gun at the worker and demanded cash and cigarettes. The victim raised the alarm but the robber escaped with £100 cash before another employee arrived downstairs.

An man armed with a shotgun threatened three employees at a shop in Birmingham, West Midlands. The robber demanded cash and hit one of the victims in the face with the weapon. As he made to escape he dropped his bag and was tackled by one of the victims and disarmed. The staff held him until police arrived to carry out the arrest.

A Freedom of Information request has revealed that over 8,000 pieces of equipment have been lost from a military training centre in Lympstone, Devon over the last four years. The list of items includes over 100 bayonets, a dozen hand grenades and 600 magazine assemblies for assault rifles as well as cutlery, clothing, towels and garden tools. The MOD has stated that the figures included items that have been damaged and misplaced items that are later recovered, and that there is no risk to the public from the plastic grenades which cannot explode.
