Sixteen airguns have been stolen by three people who broke into a target shooting club in Lincoln. They were captured on CCTV recordings ripping off a wooden wall panelling to get inside the premises, before they shut off the CCTV and went through cabinets and draws, and tried to get into a safe using a power tool. They escaped with the sixteen air rifles and air pistols that were stored there by individual members or had been bought by or donated to the club, and worth about £4,500 in total. The club secretary expressed concerns that the realistic guns could be used in violent crime, saying, "if someone walked into a newsagents and threatened staff, they wouldn't know if the gun was real or not."

Adrian Watson, 41, has been jailed for two years and been made the subject of a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting his wife or entering their home after holding an imitation rifle to her head and threatening to kill her at the property in Leeds, West Yorkshire. While the couple’s granddaughter was asleep in the house, Watson grabbed his wife by the neck and shook her violently. He told her to call the police saying that he was going to put a gun against his head and kill her and was “going down in style with the armed police”. He pointed the unloaded gun at the victim and called police to tell them what he had done, but then put down the gun and sat in the kitchen to wait allowing the victim to run outside. When officers arrived at the scene they found the couple’s 11-year-old terrified granddaughter who had woken up during the incident, and Watson was arrested. He had previously been jailed for causing grievous bodily harm.
