Four members of staff were assaulted in an armed attack on their car as they were heading back to work in Manchester. Three masked men drove past and swerved in front of the victims at speed to bring them to a stop before smashing the front passenger window with axes and demanding cash and pointing. One of the workers attempted to escape from the car with a money bag but was caught and handed over the cash when threatened with the axes. The assailants escaped with a "substantial amount" of cash in their own vehicle, which was later found abandoned in the city.

Two men with what was believed to be a gun held up an off-licence in Horwich, Greater Manchester. The masked pair demanded money from a female worker before escaping in a car with a small amount of cash and a mobile phone. The victim was shaken but unhurt.

A cat was found shot in the head with an air rifle and drenched with water by his owners in Newton Mearns, Renfrewshire. A pellet fractured his skull and embedded behind his ear where it put pressure on his brain and paralysed his back legs.

A cat has been shot in the head with an airgun near his home in Stroud, Gloucestershire. A pellet entered above his eyes and became embedded behind his ear, but was removed by vets and he has made a full recovery.

A man was attacked by two men with what appeared to be a gun while fishing in Warrington, Cheshire. The pair threatened him with the weapon and escaped with his mobile phone and fishing gear, leaving the victim shaken but uninjured.

Stephen Jones, 44, has been jailed for ten and a half years for possession of an Uzi submachine gun and heroin worth £87,000 at his home in Liverpool, Merseyside. He was initially arrested on a separate matter while driving in the city, but when police visited his home they discovered the fully-automatic Uzi in a wardrobe with three empty magazines, two boxes of ammunition and a magazine of 14 bullets as well as heroin that had been packaged for supply. Jones claimed to have been minding the weapon, which had been reactivated by being fitted with a new barrel and was fully functional, in order to cancel a £100 cocaine debt he owed.

Four men armed with a gun have allegedly threatened a member of staff during the robbery of a convenience store in Croydon, south London. One of the men reportedly stood on guard while the other three assaulted the worker with the gun and forced him to open the till. The assailants escaped with cash, leaving the victim with minor injuries.

Two men, aged 19 and 25, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life after shots were fired outside a property in Sheffield, West Yorkshire. No one was injured by police have linked the shooting to recent petrol bomb attacks in the area and seized a car as part of an ongoing investigation.

A gun has been fired while members of a family were inside a house in Halifax, West Yorkshire.  A window was shattered but no one was injured in the incident. Police were called to the scene of the damage and arrested two men on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life.
