Firearms officers were dispatched after reports of a man with a handgun on a street on Canvey Island, Essex. Police later discovered that there was no weapon but the disturbance had arisen due to a dispute between neighbours that had since been resolved.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested at his home in Slough, Berkshire after his teacher reported hearing him and his friend discussing the purchase of a gun at school. After arresting the pair, police discovered they had been talking about buying a virtual gun for a shooting video game, and they were released without charge.

A 46-year-old man has been charged with failing to keep his licensed shotgun in a safe place out of the reach of others at his home in South Shields, Tyne and Wear. His certificate required him to store the gun away from unauthorised persons, but he is accused of allowing others to access the weapon on two occasions.

Police have recovered a Walther P38 nine millimetre semi-automatic pistol, ammunition, a balaclava, cannabis and £50,000 in cash during drug raids on a property in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear. The handgun was found wrapped in pillowcase with eight bullets behind the cupboard of a kitchen in a house where the cash and cannabis were recovered from a safe. A man was arrested and charged with possessing of a prohibited weapon, cannabis, possessing ammunition for a firearm without a certificate and possessing criminal property. Officers have arrested 25 other people after the operation to tackle organise crime in the city.

A loaded shotgun and ammunition have been seized during a raid on a property in Coventry, West Midlands. A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of unlawful possessing a firearm.

Mark Cook has been jailed for 12 weeks for shooting a Police Community Support Officer with an airgun in Torquay, Devon. He shot the officer in his stab vest with a plastic pellet after becoming angry when he dropped some milk on the street, pointed the gun at a passer by, shooting the PCSO when he was called to investigate. He then laughed as he shot the gun again from the window of his flat.

Christopher Hall has been jailed for six years for threatening to use a firearm in a robbery of a betting shop in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. He passed a note to the cashier, demanding cash and claiming to have a gun. He told the victim not to press the alarm and escaped with £500 in cash, leaving the employee shaken but uninjured. Hall was arrested when he handed himself in to the police station a week after the robbery.

Salim Sabir has been jailed for 15 years for ten charges of possessing firearms and ammunition at a flat and in public areas in Reading, Berkshire. Sabir had fled to Canada while on bail when he was initially charged, but was arrested two years later and extradited to the UK. Police had found two pistols, a semi-automatic rifle, a pump-action shotgun, a revolver, 158 rounds of ammunition and a silencer in the property, and also recovered another pistol and ammunition from a bush near a school in the town.

Two men reportedly used an axe and a shotgun to threaten employees and customers during the robbery of a bookmakers in Manchester. One of the assailants pointed the gun at staff and forced them to let him into the back area while the other made customers face the wall by brandishing the axe. They escaped on foot with an undisclosed quantity of cash, leaving the victims shaken but unhurt.

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of possessing an illegal firearm after a disturbance involving 15 to 20 people outside a pub in Peterlee, County Durham. Police recovered a taser-like device with two metal prongs disguised to look like a mobile phone near the scene of the incident. The pub voluntarily shut down after the disturbance and police began to review its licence due to a number of other incidents of violence and disorder connected to the business, some of which have resulted in serious injury. The head doorman claimed that the incident had not been connected to the business and that all the other problems had occurred under previous management.
